Independent's Day

July 4th has never really been a great cause for celebration here in England, but the team from Birmingham's first Independent's Day are hoping to change all that. They have invited some of Birmingham's finest independent retailers to take part in a 'swop shop', which will see different businesses popping up inside complementary city centre locations. We were honoured to be invited to take part, and we're really looking forward to setting up shop for a day at the lovely Yorks Bakery Cafe on Newhall Street this Thursday from 10am til 5pm. We'll be taking a selection of our favourite books and magazines, as well as a few clothing pieces to share with Yorks' customers. If you work in town why not use your lunch break to come and meet Matt who will be manning the pop up PROVIDE, and enjoy some of Yorks' fantastic food and drinks. Check out @swopshop2013 on Twitter for more information on the day, and make sure you check out some of the other swops going on.

Whether you're in to records, comics, fine foods and wines or independent clothing brands, you're bound to discover something new this Independent's Day.
