The sun came out!

digbeth events party

Our plan worked! After weeks and weeks of rain, it was looking like we weren't going to get a summer at all. We planned our summer party optimistically and lo and behold, the sun came out just in time for us. Dave set up his soundsystem, Neeko was on top form and you all came out to enjoy the evening and eat tons of jerk chicken from the Greenhouse barbecue. Thanks to everyone who joined us last Saturday; we hope you had a good time. We definitely enjoyed ourselves, hence the lack of photos...

Summer is a state of mind

digbeth events independent Birmingham party

We've had pretty abysmal weather so far this Summer. A few weeks ago we decided - along with Ben from Stag Creative Barbers who is just around the corner from us at The Custard Factory - to have a Summer party regardless of what the weather was doing. Suki10c

digbeth

Local bar Suki10c held a fundraiser on Sunday to help with their escalating legal costs - apparently someone in the neighbourhood doesn't like bars, which is a bit unfortunate in a neighbourhood full of bars. I wasn't able to make it down on the day, so I took a stroll over there this morning to check out the new...

We met Laira recently when she was in Digbeth plotting things with Craig. A couple of weeks later, and fundraising for the first Birmingham Architecture Festival has just begun on Kickstarter. The festival will take place between 24-27 May, and will include guided tours, workshops, film screenings, talks and exhibitions.   The architecture in Birmingham - and Digbeth in particular - was a major factor in the decision to set up PROVIDE here, so we are very excited about this celebration of the buildings all around us. Check out the fundraising information here, and pledge your support if you can. BAF is...

Flatpack Festival & PROVIDE Cinema

cinema digbeth

Photo: Chris Milliman Flatpack Festival is a city-wide cultural event that happens every year in Birmingham, and we were thrilled to be invited to join the programme of events last month. Saturday was Cyclomania, a day for celebrating all things bike-related. There was bike polo with Birmingham Bike Foundry, a Bicycle Basket Bazaar, and PROVIDE Cinema hosted a screening of Bicycle Dreams in the Custard Factory Theatre. The 2009 documentary follows riders in the Race Across America - touted as the most gruelling endurance event in the world, as they battle all terrains, weather, other riders and push their own bodies and characters...
